This man, James Verone, robbed a bank for one dollar.

Why only one dollar?

Because he knew that in prison he could get the medical care he could not afford with his part time salary as a convenience store clerk. He was approved for food stamps, but they did little to help his finances. Between his back problems, carpel tunnel, and arthritis, he simply couldn’t handle the pain any longer.

On June 9th, he sent a letter to his local paper, the Gaston Gazette, that stated: “When you receive this a bank robbery will have been committed by me. this robbery is being committed by me for one dollar. I am of sound mind but not so much sound body.”

He then took a cab to the RBC Bank, and handed the teller a note asking for one dollar and medical attention. He quietly took a seat in the lobby and waited for police to arrive.

Since Verone only stole one dollar, he was only charged with larceny. His bail, which he doesn’t plan to pay, is set at $2,000-reduced from the normal $100,000. He’s scheduled to see a doctor this Friday, and hopes to get foot surgery, back surgery and to have a protrusion on his check treated.

To me, this is the perfect example of how disturbingly corrupt and unjust our health care system has become under HMO’s. For this man, or any person for that matter, to feel that he needs to be imprisoned just to see a doctor, is ridiculous.

I honestly can’t even think of words. The story says it all.

this is a bridge in Paris. you hang locks on it with the name of you & your boyfriend/girlfriend/best-friend then throw the key into the river. so even though the friend/relationship may end, you can’t remove the lock. it stays there forever, as relevance to someone once a part of your life.

Paris is just a great city, okay.

How come pictures of scene kids and a pair of shorts get more notes than a beautiful photo of a cancer patient?

Lumos! This is my tattoo I got done a few weeks ago.

When I was little my mom would read the first three books of the Harry Potter series to us every night. One night the power went out just as we started to read. She was going to call it a night but we begged her to continue. So she went and got out candles and a lantern. Made her own light to read to us. When the power came back on, we went, turned off the lights, and continued to read by the candles/lantern. Every night since then we read with the lights off and candles lit.

I decided to get Lumos for that reason. I love Harry Potter and I loved that moment I had with her. I decided to get it in her handwriting to be more personal. I changed the S to a lightning bolt because a cursive S following a cursive O looks..weird to me.

Since it is in UV ink, when it heals, it won’t appear in daylight, only in black light. The lightning bolt will be visible during the day because it is a colored UV ink, and I am ok with that.

I want this.

Nung nakita ko ‘to, shit! Tamang tama ako dito. Yung tipong gusto kong sumali dahil sa wakas, nalaman ko na hindi lahat ng tao sa mundo, nasa fairy tale at papalapit na sa happily ever after. Meron palang mga tao na BV sa mga taong ganito.

At sino naman ang kinabibitteran ko? Oh well, papel. Mga taong kwento ng kwento ang masayang lovelife nila. Yung tipong bawat detalye, idedetalye pa sayo. TIpong, “Alam mo, hinalikan niya ako, di ko na napigilan, hinawakan ko na ang bagay-na-hindi-dapat-pinapangalanan.” ‘Di ka man lang makaramdam na BITTER NA BITTER AKO SAYO.

Oo, alam ko, hindi tama. Pero, sana makaramdam naman kayo na yung kaibigan niyo, paparating pa lang ang lovelife niyang tinatamo.Pero, wag kayong mag-alala, hindi naman ako galit sa inyo at promise, ‘di ko sisirain lovelife niyo. Suportado naman kayo eh. Basta, tandaan niyo, andito lang ako. Kung maging bitter man kayo, friends ko pa rin kayo.

Sa tingin ko, dapat ngang magsamasama lahat ng bitter sa mundo. Sa paraang ‘to, gagaan ang bitterness ng isa’t isa. Therapeutic pa nga kung baga. Magtutulungan ang isa’t isa para maging matamis ang mga kapeng tulad natin.

Kaya sa mga bitter dyan, sali na kayo. :D
